Skin&Blister was formed by the dynamic Devlin sister duo; writer Cecelia and director Harriet. As well as being cockney slang for ‘sister,’ the name Skin&Blister invokes both an intractable bond and the friction that comes from a life spent as rapidly expanding peas in a shared pod.
Building projects from love (and fury) fierce enough to risk not being invited back for Sunday Roast, we make stuff from scar tissue. With theatre as the vessel, politics becomes a wound that just might bring us closer.
Through collaborations with a range of independent artists, we seek to create work that focuses on diverse voices, feminist theory and physical practice.
Come skin your knees on our art – we promise to hold your hand afterwards.
…Just don’t be a c**t about it.
“As kids we both adored the stage; our creativity came first, but our politics came later. Diving headlong into adulthood side by side, smashing
together theatre and feminism seemed like our most diabolical plan yet. It would be impossible to escape the pull of ‘The Sisterhood’ with three
generations of complex and indomitable sisters running through the matriarchal line of our family. As well as being cockney slang for ‘sister’, the name Skin&Blister invokes both an intractable bond and the friction that comes from a life spent as rapidly expanding peas in a shared pod. In fact, it is this reactive (read: dangerous) potential that has formed a solid foundation for our collaboration, allowing space for the creative expression of our politics – both shared and divergent.”
