

Unique to this performance, Phillipa is the only deaf actress to feature. At a young age, she was diagnosed with profound deafness. Yet, despite the challenges associated with her hearing impairment, Phillipa is strongly committed to cultivating and pursuing her passion for performing arts.
As a teenager in Melbourne, Phillipa developed her love of acting by appearing in various repertory group plays. Not only her love of acting but dance as well including tap, jazz and funk. After studying drama in high school, she was accepted into the acting course at Deakin University. Phillipa graduated from Deakin University in 2010 with a Bachelor of Creative Arts (Drama). After she graduated, she scored two lead roles for short films, “Here in Silence”(2012) and “Catching a Tuna?”(2013). She also received a Best Actor award for her work in “Here in Silence”.
Phillipa’s other credit include Melbourne Commonwealth Games Opening in 2006 and Closing Ceremony, Deaflympic Opening and Closing Ceremony 2005, Australian Deaf Games Closing Ceremony 2012.
